Artist Statement
I never know what I am going to do when I start a new project, I truly believe the right pieces come to my hands –they choose me– and one by one they become whole. I love how a colorful chaos of bits and pieces takes shape and becomes a landscape, a field of flowers, a funky image. I see beauty where others don’t, and all I do is pick it up, brush it off and play with it a little.
I grew up witnessing the art of reclaiming, repurposing and restoring rejected goods, as well as the quiet joy and spiritual healing that creating beauty brings to one’s heart. I believe that everything in nature has a soul that should be respected and never hurt, so I go around salvaging anything I can just to keep it alive in one way or the other… and this includes glass scraps that I use as part of my wood and fused glass projects.
I am inspired by nature and images of places I visit, people I meet, stories I hear… Each piece I create has a very personal meaning and no two pieces are alike, each of them has a place and time that can’t be duplicated. I consider myself just a player in the most amazing game I have ever played: the game of Glass Art.
